Hello fellow BetaBaiter! We've just launched our social app discovery service and we're eager to hear what you think about it! What we want to solve is to highlight as much great apps for you as possible and not just the ones on the top lists. There are tons of noteworthy apps which could not get into the App Store's top lists and those may fit you even better than the ones on the lists. With AppStream we try to recommend you the best 'channels' of app information but these Channels are maintained by people. You can decide which Channels' content fits your interest and with a few click you can choose to follow these channels. In your 'stream' you'll see the content of every Channel you follow, this will be your personalized stream of app information. Sounds familiar? Yes, this is very similar to how Facebook and Twitter works. The main difference is in the presentation of the information which is specifically designed to fit apps. We decidedly focus only on app related content. Of course you can follow/subscribe to similar accounts and pages on Twitter and Facebook but most of the time when you're browsing your favorite social network(s) you're not interested in apps, so why to pollute your stream/wall with all these information every time you visit Facebook or Twitter? We think that the answer for better app discovery and app recommendation is to use a similar, familiar and successful concept, but design it so that it fits app discovery better and separate it to another service to allow you to keep your Facebook wall and Twitter stream clean. Additionally this separation allows us to fine tune the service for your needs when you want to browse new apps and to help you to easily find and access these apps. We don't have to optimize your on-site experience for presenting pictures and videos of lol-cats, we can focus on apps and extend the service to provide you the best app discovery and personalized app recommendation experience.
