Wheel of Fortune is the top game show and has 11M+ daily viewers, but it costs $4.99. This is too much for most users (like us). The market is large and proven for a game like Wheel of Fortune. We built Wopple as a free alternative and optimized the game for 2-minute chunks -- perfect for waiting in line or other moments of idle time. One adaptation required replacing the wheel since "spinning" something didn't translate very well to the iPhone. The core dynamic remains the same: guess letters for cash. Address book integration makes it simple to challenge friends and stay in touch while exercising your mind. Hundreds of puzzles are free, but we also offer premium packs for $0.99 each. We encourage social gaming via passive gifting. If you purchase a premium puzzle, anyone you play gets the puzzle for free. One person can now buy a puzzle for an entire group of friends. From a news perspective, our app is part of the larger trend to build "native-looking" games using only HTML5 & JavaScript. We relied on PhoneGap, the popular platform from Adobe, to provide native hooks for SMS and push notifications. The same code used for the iPhone provides 95% of an Android version (visual tweaks account for the difference). If you like word games, we think you'll love Wopple.
